Michelle Nkamankeng is just seven years old, but she’s already written a book and made history. Her book Waiting for the Waves, makes her the youngest author from Africa to be added to the list of the top 10 youngest writers in the world.
She launched her book at Wits University on Saturday.
Eyewitness News, she gave a brief synopsis of the novel, which is the first of a four-part series.
Nkamankeng attends the Chapel Theatre of Sacred Heart College and said in another interview her inspiration for the book came after she visited the beach with her family.
“The story highlights the contradictions of emotions: ultimately, by freeing oneself from fear, you give yourself permission to truly experience the beauty of nature,” head of Sacred Heart College, Colin Northmore, wrote in the book’s Forward.
Oh and, of course writing isn’t just all Nkamankeng likes. Netball, ballet, swimming and gymnastics is all on her extra-mural activity list.
