Fertiliser can be a dirty business and one agriculturalist in Malawi knows that all too well. He’s making fertiliser with human urine. It may sound unappealing, but it’s transforming the lives of both farmers and urban residents. Not only is it free of potentially hazardous chemicals like other fertilisers but it is also cheap. Local women use the unique fertiliser to make compost. And the proceeds pay for household expenses.
