Watch! Mary Seacole Statue Unveiled at St Thomas’ Hospital, London

BBC News reports that the long campaigned for Mary Seacole statue has finally been unveiled in London today (June 30).

Mary Seacole was a Jamaican-born nurse who cared for wounded British soldiers during the Crimean War in the 19th Century.

The statue’s completion follows a 12-year campaign, which raised £500,000 to honour Mrs Seacole.

The statue stands opposite the Houses of Parliament in the grounds of St Thomas’ Hospital (Westminster Bridge).

Well done to everyone who campaigned for this day to happen. I salute you.
