How Living Near Water Can Reduce Stress – Study

New research has found that ‘blue space’ including sea, rivers, lakes and even urban water features can have a positive impact on wellbeing

Now there’s new scientific proof that water helps calm us down and bring relief from stress. The study, conducted by Health & Place, looked at the effects of green (trees and vegetation) and blue (water) spaces on one’s well-being.


It was concluded that, “Higher levels of blue space visibility were associated with lower psychological distress.” In other words, the more you’re exposed to water, the less stressed you’ll be.

So if you have the chance to live on a body of water, or when on vacation, ask for the room with the (blue) view.
