Liberia: George Weah Favorites In The Second Round Of The Presidential Election (Photos)

Former footballer George Weah waited 12 years to hope to become president of Liberia, and with his dream now at hand, his supporters have expressed their support for the “future president”.

George Weah will face Vice President Joseph Boakai on Dec. 26 for the second round of the presidential election.

“Weah is our man, Weah president,” shouted tens of thousands of supporters gathered for the big campaign rally in Monrovia on Saturday.

“I’m looking for respect for freedom of opinion and jobs and I’m 100% sure that Weah is the only person who can relieve us of the stress we’re living in,” said Joshua Zinnah, a fervent George supporter. Weah.

Speaking to AFP at his home before the rally, Weah insists he had every chance of winning.

“You know that I competed, some of which was very difficult, and I came out victorious, so I know Boakai can not beat me. I have the support of the people, “he said.

The 51-year-old legend and the only African to win the Ballon d’Or (1995) entered politics after the civil war that killed an estimated 250,000 people between 1989 and 2003. He has already has been beaten twice in the presidential elections and hopes that his third attempt will bear fruit.
