Fallen basketball icon Kobe Bryant’s death left a hole in many people’s hearts and a sense of regret in others.
Former Lakers player Smush Parker is having a difficult time processing Kobe’s death because the two did not see eye to eye.
The former starting point guard for the admired Lakers team said he just wishes he and Kobe had mended their fences before his sudden death.
According to TMZ, Smush was once caught saying playing side by side with the late basketballer was an overrated experience.
Now, his words pierce his heart whenever he thinks of the deceased’s sudden departure.
Apparently, Smush’s hurtful words caused a dent in his and Kobe’s relationship forcing the latter to respond in a 2009 interview.
Kobe referred to Smush as the worst stating he did not deserve to be in the NBA.
“Smush Parker was the worst. He should not have been in the NBA, but we were too cheap to pay for a point guard. We let him walk on,” the late father of four ranted.
Smush insists he once reached out to Kobe in an attempt to hash things out.
The basketball player penned an apology letter but claimed Kobe did not respond.
Kobe and his daughter Gianna (Gigi) Bryant died on Sunday, January 26 after his private helicopter crashed in Calabasas, US.
The two were travelling to the player’s sports academy known as Mamba Academy.
Seven more people lost their lives in the accident after the plane crashed into a foggy mountain.
It was described as a “high energy impact crash.”
Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, broke her silence on Thursday, January 30, and thanked her fans and family for praying for her.
She honoured the other victims who also lost their lives in the tragic crash and said a foundation to cater for their families was in the works.
The widow said she had no idea how life was going to be without her husband and daughter and asked her fans to grant her privacy to mourn the two.
“We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband, Kobe the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna — a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia, Bianka, and Capri,” Vanessa penned.
