King of Satan: Nigerian Man Who Married 57 Wives Dies Aged 74

Simon Odo, a famed chief priest in Nigeria’s Enugu State, known as the man with 57 wives has died aged 74 and is set to be buried today.

BBC’s Igbo Service reports that he died on Tuesday and is set to be buried today, December 15, 2021, citing one of his sons, Uchenna Odo.

“He is dead. We are preparing to bury him,” Uchenna confirmed.

Odo, told BBC Igbo last year that he had 57 wives and had lost count of his children and grandchildren.

As a chief priest practicing his trade in Oji in his native southeastern Enugu State, he got his alias ‘King Of Satan’ due to his religious belief.

He was a believer in satanism, a faith he inherited from his father and grandfather but he stressed in an interview with the BBC that he did not use his faith to harm others.

He is not the first man to marry scores of women in his lifetime in Nigeria.

Years ago, a Muslim man in southwestern Nigeria purported to have married over 80 women. Baba Masaba, real name Mohammed Bello Abubakar died at the age of 93 with 86 wives, the BBC reported in 2017.
