Kenyans Win The 34th Edition Of The Athens Marathon

It was a Kenyan double triumph, as Luka Rotich and Nancy Arusei won the 34th Athens Marathon on Sunday, marking the 120th anniversary since the first-ever Olympic Marathon in 1896.

Luka Rotich beat his fellow countryman Benson Kipruto to win the the race in a time 2 hours 12 minutes and 49 seconds, a little under a minute over his countryman. Andrew Kimtai, also from Kenya finished third, 6 seconds behind Kipruto. In the women’s event Nancy Arusei took 2 hours and 38 minutes to cross the finish line, in what was her debut Marathon event. Algerian Kenza Dahmani finished in secon position, 15 seconds behind Arusei, with Rebouli Ourania of Greece finishing third.
