Ivory Coast’s Former President Henri Konan Bédié Ends His Alliance With the RHDP

It’s a thunderclap for the Ouattara camp. Indeed, the former president of Côte d’Ivoire broke his alliance with the RHDP (Rally of Houphouetists for Democracy and Peace).

The information was made public on the official platform of the Ivorian government this Thursday, August 09, 2018.

Yesterday after long talks between Alassane Ouattara and the President of the PDCI at the presidential palace, things became clear. The divorce between the PDCI and the RHDP was pronounced at the end of the exchanges.

Henri Konan Bédié withdraws the PDCI (Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire) and presents its candidates for the upcoming municipal elections.

“The PDCI-RDA denounces the Political Agreement for the creation of a unified party called RHDP signed on April 12, 2018, withdrew from the process of setting up a unified party called RHDP”, says this statement which follows a meeting, Wednesday, between the president of the PDCI Henri Konan Bédié, and the Ivorian president Alassane Ouattara, president of the RHDP unified party and honorary president of the rally of Republicans (RDR, presidential party).

We will come back
