Indian League: A Player Suspended for Lying About His Age, Reducing His Real Age by 12 Years

An Indian footballer has just been suspended by the football federation of his country for lying to everyone about his age.

Jamshedpur FC striker Gourav Mukhi hit the headlines on October 7, officially becoming the youngest striker in Indian history in the draw against Bengaluru FC.

But in reality the player who claims to be 16 years old is 28 years old. the lie was discovered during an investigation by the Indian federation, which suspended it for six months.

“I know Gourav from Jharkand, and when he played in the lower divisions. He was suspended several times before joining Team B Jamshedpur. You know how it is there? People always provide fake birth certificates, and Gourav is just one of them. You can not just blame the player, the coaches encourage them to do that, “said one of his former teammates at Fox Sports Asia.

“The disciplinary commission of the Indian Football Federation (AIFF) imposed a six-month suspension on the player of Jamshedpur FC Gourav Mukhi with immediate effect. The AIFF Disciplinary Committee has declared the player Gourav Mukhi guilty on the basis of the evidence he has presented and his confessions, “AIFF said in a statement.

In 2015, he was given two years of suspension, like four other teammates, for providing a fake birth certificate while he was playing for the U15 in Jharkhand.
