A black 13 year old in possession of an air pistol was shot dead Wednesday night in Columbus, Ohio, in the northern United States, by the police on suspicion of involvement in an armed assault, authorities said.
An investigation was opened by the authorities about the death of King Tyree, whose death was pronounced at 8:22 p.m. (0:22 GMT) on Wednesday night at the hospital to Nationwide Children, said the statement posted on the Facebook page Columbus police.
She said police were sent to 7:42 p.m. on where was reported a robbery involving several suspects and spotted three men matching the description of the alleged victim. When they wanted to talk to them, two of them fled on foot and were chased by the police.
No one else was injured
In a nearby alley, while agents “trying to arrest one of the suspects pulled out a pistol from his belt,” added the text. “One of the officers shot and hit the suspect several times.” None of the officers involved nor the other suspect were injured, the statement said, noting that other suspects are still being sought.
Investigators found the scene of the drama “what appeared to be a handgun” and who is later revealed to be an air pistol with a laser pointer. Witnesses shots – including the suspect fled with Tyree King and was released pending further investigation – and the reported armed assault were questioned by security forces.
