Emmanuel Macron was elected President of the Republic. The candidate of En marche obtained about 62.5% of the votes according to the first official estimates, against 37.5% for Marine Le Pen. At 39, he became the eighth president of the Fifth Republic.

This election is marked by a high rate of abstention. Participation fell sharply, both in relation to the rate at the same hour of the first round on April 23 (69.42%), as compared to the second Round of the previous presidential election of 2012 (71.96%).
