How Former Libyan Leader, Muammar Gaddafi Financed Nicolas Sarkozy’s 2007 Presidential Campaign

Fabrice Arfi and Karl Laske are two journalists from Mediapart who have just published a book of inquiry entitled ‘ With the compliments of the guide’ . In this book, the two media men return on the alleged financing of the presidential campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007, by the Libyan colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Based on hundreds of documents and material clues, this extremely well-researched book revisits this unique case. Answering questions on RFI a few days ago, Fabrice Arfi, one of the two authors of the book provides some clarification.

” We published this testimony because it is supported by external documents. For example, the diary, manuscript of the former Prime Minister and Minister of Libyan Petroleum, Choukri Ghanem, who, as early as 2007 – so four years before the war, he could not know that four years later there would be war – recorded in writing with his hand, and the documents are authenticated, the payments for the campaign of Mr. Sarkozy. There is a record of the International Criminal Court which gives exactly the same amounts, the same intermediaries and the same recipients as in the testimony of Ziad Takieddine. And then, downstream, we found a lot of species in the campaign of Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007. Species that had not been declared to the control authorities, with a Claude Gueant, the former Minister of the Interior and campaign manager of Mr. Sarkozy, who, during the 2007 presidential campaign, had rented in the secret a vault in a bank branch in Paris, to hide, he said to the police, speeches by Nicolas Sarkozy. Today, suspicions of Libyan financing are materialized by documents. Either by bank transfers, which make flea jumps of tax havens in tax havens, or by cash trajectories. Suspicions of Libyan financing are materialized by documents. Either by bank transfers, which make flea jumps of tax havens in tax havens, or by cash trajectories. Suspicions of Libyan financing are materialized by documents. Either by bank transfers, which make flea jumps of tax havens in tax havens, or by cash trajectories.

Fabrice Arfi adds that he has reached the conclusion of a gigantic corruption and the discovery of these material documents after a six-year investigation.
