Greece: More than 40 Migrants Found Hidden in a Refrigerated Truck

More than 40 migrants were found hidden in a refrigerated truck, as confirmed by police in northern Greece.

Migrants allegedly from Afghanistan were found hidden in the truck on Monday, November 4, after the police carried out a routine check of the truck traveling on a section of the highway near Xanthi City.

Migrants suffered no damage inside the truck as the refrigeration system was not activated. While police said at least 41 migrants were found in the truck, some politicians said the number was higher.
“The truck contained men and children. Identifying their nationality will take a few days, “a police source told reporters.

The driver who was arrested, was transported to a local police station next to the migrants to be identified.

This comes after 39 people, all supposed to be Vietnamese, were found dead in a refrigerated truck in the UK last month.
