Ghanaian couple welcomes bouncing baby boy after eight years of infertility thanks to The Walking Egg technology making Ghana the second country in the world to use the method.

The unnamed couple welcomed their bundle of joy on Monday, August 9th, at the Pentecost Hospital situated in Madina. The couple had been barren for eight years, but were able to have their 3.3 kilogram bouncing baby boy through the TWE process on their third try.
The TWE technology aims at making affordable infertility treatment for all a possibility for all Ghanaians. The process endeavors to use low cost stimulation methods for intra-cervical insemination (ICI), intra-uterine insemination (IUI) in developing countries.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Pentecost Hospital medical Administrator, Dr. Gordon Nii Armah Attoh, stated briedly explained the TWE method.
“Unlike the conventional IVF known to people, the TWE has minimal medication for stimulation and does not require any sophisticated medication to see its success,” said Dr. Attoh.
The TWE method was established first introduced in Ghana when the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Association of Childless Couples of Ghana (ACCOG), Nana Yaw Osei, came across an article online regarding the TWE Foundation and contacted it’s President, Prof Willem Ombelet in May of 2013.
According to ACCOG CEO, Nana Yaw Osei, the method’s costs have been reduced in order to make it more accessible for infertile financially challenged couples. Mr. Osei urged government and the private sector to support the method by subsidizing some equipment used in the process.
“The cost for the TWE has been reduced from GH¢20,000 per cycle to about GH¢6,000 to make it affordable for all childless couples”, said Dr. Osei.
