Gabriel Segun Ajayi, a 32-year-old Nigerian man married to a 50-year-old Russian, died of a heart attack in a nightclub last Friday in the city of Cherepovets, about 500 km north of Moscow.

A preliminary inquiry into the circumstances of this death has been opened. Investigators say that the cause of death would be determined after a forensic examination. At first, local media reported that Ajayi had died of a heart attack.

The Nigerian Embassy in Moscow said it was reviewing reports of the death of the Nigerian national. Ajayi and his wife, Natalia Vedenina, had been the center of attraction because of their love affair and their age gap.

Ajayi had met Natalia on the Internet in 2012. After their marriage in 2016, the couple settled in Russia and, in 2017, Natalia gave birth to twins.

Natalyia, devastated by the death of her husband, said: “Gabriel had a heart attack, he collapsed and died. He did not take any medicine. My husband had no problem with his heart. I was informed two hours after his death … Our children are only babies, they are only one year old. “

Ajayi will be buried in the city of Cherepovets.
