Gabon: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Angry After His Father’s Appointment as National Coach; Read His Reaction

Panthers captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has criticized his father’s appointment as coach of the national team, noting that the decision was made without his father’s approval.

The Arsenal striker has expressed his anger at what he called “amateurism” of the Gabonese football federation, which this week named his father and Daniel Cousin as coaches to succeed Jose-Antonio Camacho .

“Wondering why I have problems with you? Why did not I want to come to the selection? Aubameyang wrote on Instagram.

“This is the demonstration again. You announce to the world, about my father, supposedly coach of the national team whereas you did not even have his agreement! “

“The president of the federation called my dad, and did not even care about his state of health, he who is sick right now …”

“To rush and give a press conference while my father told him he would give his answer the next day: negative (by the way). Without even giving him the choice or even negotiating for his staff and others … “

“In short, the day the federation will no longer show amateurism, the national team may then be able to move forward and find consistent results,” he explains.

Friday, the Federation recognized a hiccup in the premature announcement of this appointment.

“Pierre-François Aubameyang being in London for health reasons, has indeed expressed the wish to give his final response Thursday afternoon,” admitted the Fegafoot in a statement. “In the wake of (…) the Minister of Youth and Sports, faced with the emergency, instructed the Fegafoot to make official the composition of the technical staff Wednesday night,” she added, stressing however “the will Pierre Aubameyang has repeatedly expressed the need to coach the national team. “

Pierre Aubame, 53, captained Gabon in his first appearance at the Nations Cup final in 1994.
