Before we get into US politics, let me tell you that nothing has changed for Obamas. Michelle packs her own lunch and her husband Barack Obama, the former US President, is still not allowed to drive.
But a source close to Obamas has revealed to People Magazine about what the former PLOTUS and FLOTUS think of President Trump and his governance.
Excited already?
Post elections, Barack Obama never went public with his opinions about Donald Trump and his presidency even when Trump made some serious allegations against Obama and bullied him several times on social media platforms.
The more Obama hid, the more curiosity it generated. No one really knew what did Obama think of America’s oldest president, Trump. But, not anymore.
Find out!
Obama said, “He is nothing but a bullshitter.”
This is what Barack Obama told about the current president, Trump, to his two colleagues last November soon after the elections, reports People. The source said that Obama’s opinion about President Trump hasn’t become better ever since Trump resumed office.
In the interview, another source was quoted saying this:
“He’s (Barack Obama) deeply concerned with what he’s seen. But he’s also optimistic and heartened that citizens aren’t just watching it happen but engaging with neighbours and elected representatives at town halls.”
However, Obama calling Trump a “bullshitter” shouldn’t come as a suprise.
If you’ve paid enough attention to Obama’s campaign rhetoric against Donald Trump in the elections.
It is a different story now …
After the Presidential elections, Barack has refrained from publicly criticising the Trump administration. It is an unmentioned code of conduct wherein former US Presidents avoid criticising the serving President.
Barack Obama’s close friend and political strategist David Axelrod says:
“Obama’s very respectful of the appropriate role of a former president and that ex-president should not be looking over the shoulder of their successors and commenting on every decision,” reports People.
David adds:
“Obviously, this now is a unique set of circumstances, but my sense is that he’s going to try and respect that tradition while reserving the right to speak out in given moments when things rise to that level.”
All of us know that she actively participated in all the election campaigns against President Trump. But she has refrained from publicly sharing her views about Donald Trump (privately, it’s another story).
To visitors, last December, she satirically joked that she’d need to add mourning attire.
She had even decided the name of the series of outfits as “the black series, and I’m going all black for the next couple of years,” Michelle joked, as was quoted by People.
After all this, one thing is clear…
Obamas have not liked the Trump administration and its policies so far. What will happen in 2020 elections? Only time can tell.
