The 92-year old’s chief of staff Jean Becker told CBS Houston affiliate KHOU-TV and the Houston Chronicle on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, that Bush was hospitalized but is now in stable condition and doing fine.
Becker also revealed to the press that Bush is expected to return home in a couple of days.
He is being treated at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston where he lives with his wife, former first lady Barbara Bush.
George H.W Bush and Barbara Bush
George H.W Bush, 92, is the father of the former president of the United States George W. Bush and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush who sought the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination.
The elder Bush, a Republican like his sons, served as vice president during Ronald Reagan’s two White House terms before being elected president in 1988. He served four years in the White House.
Previously, in late 2012 he also had been admitted to a hospital for a bronchitis-related cough. He was briefly released, but readmitted and spent almost two months at the hospital until he was discharged in mid-January 2013.
Bush has used a wheelchair in his later years and was hospitalized twice in 2014 – once for seven weeks with pneumonia and again for breathing difficulties.

In 2015, Bush was hospitalized in Portland, Maine after he fell at his summer home and fractured a bone in his neck.
He has had a rare appearance since he entered his 90s and his health condition has been under observation.
Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath also confirmed that he won’t be attending Trump’s inauguration following his health issues.
