Former FC Barcelona and Brazilian Star Ronaldinho Arrested in Paraguay Over Possession of Falsified Passport

Ronaldinho was arrested in Paraguay for possession of a falsified passport.

The former FC Barcelona and PSG player, 39, was arrested Wednesday night at the Resort Yacht & Golf Club Paraguayo with his brother Roberto, confirmed Euclides Acevedo, the Paraguayan interior ministry. Police and tax officials raided their hotel a few hours after arriving in the country’s capital, Asunción.


According to Diaro La Nacion, passports bearing the names of Ronaldinho and Roberto, with Paraguayan nationality, were found in the hotel. The Brazilian football legend came to participate in several communications operations. Roni will now have to explain himself to justice.


“We will apply the law. As an authority, we cannot let this pass ,  warned Euclides Acevedo.

In 2018, Ronaldinho’s passport was confiscated by the Brazilian authorities for non-payment of an environmental fine. In 2015, he was ordered to pay 2.2 million euros for having built a bridge connecting his farm to Lake Guaiba without a permit, in a preserved area. What has not been done.
