Former Blitzbok Player Vuyo Zangqa Appointed Coach Of Russia’s Sevens Team



Former South African rugby sevens player Vuyo Zangqa is the new head coach of the Russian national men’s Sevens team following his appointment to replace Alexander Yanyushkin.


Zangqa represented the Blitzboks in the World Rugby Sevens Series circuit between 2007 and 2009, playing in 21 tournaments, before a road accident cut his playing career short.


Following his stint at the Blitzboks under Paul Treu, Zangqa worked with the Kenya Sevens team and South African rugby franchise Southern Kings.


He also took charge of Germany’s Sevens team and guided them to victory in the 2019 European Championship.


He was selected to be assistant at Narvskaya Zastava, a Russian club based in St. Petersburg which finish third in the Russia Rugby-7 Championship in the 2020/2021 season.
