“Kofi Annan is gone! “. The sad news was made public this Saturday in the morning, plunging all Africa into mourning. The former UN Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize lapsed at the age of 80, after rising to the rank of “star of world diplomacy” during his ten years at the helm of the United Nations.
Antonio Guterres, the current Secretary-General of the United Nations, hailed in his predecessor “a force that guided the good”. Indeed, this great Ghanaian personality marked the passage of the United Nations (UN) during the exercise of his two mandates, from 1997 to 2007. He was the first secretary general from sub-Saharan Africa. The Togolese Head of State pays tribute to “this worthy son of Africa”.
Le décès de l'ancien Secrétaire Général des @UN M. @KofiAnnan nous plonge tous dans la tristesse.
Ce digne fils d'Afrique fut un vaillant représentant de notre continent.
