Five Africans, Mostly Nigerians Arrested By Police in Malaysia For Distributing Religious Materials

Five Nigerian nationals, including three women, were arrested by police for presumably distributing religious books on the roadside in Lebuh Carnavon.

Timur Laut District Police Chief Zaimani Che Awang said foreign nationals between the ages of 25 and 30 were arrested around 2:30 pm on Wednesday while distributing the book “Rhapsody Of Realities. “

“We have received information about a group of foreigners distributing religious books, with the intention of spreading Christianity, in several places in George Town and Lebuh Carnavon.

“Previously, we had received a report from the Central Police Station on a similar incident and, following an investigation, we discovered that the five foreign nationals were also involved,” Zaimani Che Awang said in remarks relayed by the information site malaysiapost.

He pointed out that the five foreigners, who did not have valid travel documents, had come to Penang with seven others last Tuesday and that the police were now looking for these seven people to facilitate further investigations.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief (SPT) Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said he had received three reports about the alleged distribution of Bibles to students in front of a secondary school in Bukit Mertajam.

He indicated that one of the reports had been submitted by the father of one pupil, the other two by representatives of two non-governmental organizations.

“After the investigations, we discovered that the incident occurred on November 2, between 12:10 and 12:30 … two men were distributing Bibles at the exit of the school. “

“Around 200 copies of the New Testament have been distributed to Malaysian, Chinese and Indian students,” he added.
