FINALLY: Singer Lady Gaga Reveals She Suffers From Mental Illness!!

The singer said she was raped when she was 19 in an interview two years ago.

Lady Gaga has revealed that she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder after being raped as a teenager.

The singer made the admission during a visit with disadvantaged LGBT+ youth at the Ali Forney Center, a homeless shelter in New York. The scenes were broadcast on Monday’s edition of the Today show on NBC.

Gaga’s visit was in aid of Today and NBC’s Share Kindness campaign, encouraging people to show compassion to others.

“I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness,” Gaga said. “I suffer from PTSD. I’ve never told anyone that before, so here we are. But the kindness that’s shown to me by doctors as well as my family, and my friends, it’s really saved my life.”

After the episode aired, Gaga tweeted about sharing one of her “deepest secrets.”

Gaga opened up about her rape ordeal in a 2014 interview with Howard Stern.

She said was sexually assaulted aged 19 by a man who was 20 years her senior. The experience inspired the song “Swine,” which appeared on her 2013 album ArtPop.

“I wrote a song called ‘Swine;’ the song is about rape,” she told Stern. “The song is about demoralization. The song is about rage and fury and passion, and I had a lot of pain that I wanted to release.”

In 2015, Gaga recorded “‘Til it Happens to You” for the documentary The Hunting Ground, about the rise in sexual assaults on U.S. college campuses. She performed the Diane Warren-penned song at the Oscars in February, where she was joined onstage by rape survivors.
