Finally! Robert Mugabe Announces Resignation

In a surprising move oll’ Bob’s gone on record saying he’ll be retiring ‘soon’. While chatting to war veterans over the weekend, Mugabe admitted that Zimbabwe’s pretty much a mess right now – but didn’t go as far as to admit it’s all his fault –.

Zim’s been in pretty bad shape the last decade or so, and things have only got worse since the recent drought and the country essentially running out of money, despite Bob and his wife (dis)Grace’s criminally lavish lifestyle.

So, Bob said he’ll be retiring, but his party added that he’ll still be contesting next year’s elections and should he win – hmmmm – he’ll stay on until 2023 just one year short of 100 years old.  He told supporters that he’s finally “defeated… the British and Americans…” adding that he’s not blind to the people’s suffering.

Mugabe and his allies have, for more than a decade now, harped on about the West’s plans on regime change in Zim. But eNCA reports that a senior Western diplomat recently said there’s very little interest from the UK’s side in Zim and that the USA has “zero political and economic interest in Zimbabwe.”

The aged statesman told those willing to listen – or should we say able to, as his power base is pretty much a geriatrics club – that Zim has yet-unexplored wealth, but a financial analyst based in the capital doesn’t seem to agree.

“There was a time, some years ago, when Zimbabwe seemed important, that it could be a powerhouse in the region, but that moment has long gone, and now it is hard to find anyone who can forecast how it can repay its debts even with a new leadership, let alone attract foreign investment.”

“There are no so-called unexplored minerals. The best opportunities are a few, well managed, small mines, but nothing big.”
