FIF: Didier Drogba in Pole Position to Become the Next President

This Tuesday 04 February 2020, Augustin Sidy Diallo the president of the Ivorian football federation (FIF) announced that he will not be a candidate for another mandate at the head of the Ivorian football federation. A decision that leaves the door wide open to the former captain of elephants from Côte d’Ivoire Didier Drogba interested in this position.

” I will not run for a third term as authorized by the texts, ” said AFP, Mr. Sidy Diallo, in office since 2011.

Mr. Sidy’s second term will expire on February 19. But if we stick to the texts, the next election of the president of the FIF may be held between February 20, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

Didier Drogba, the 41-year-old former captain of the Ivorian team, was the first to announce his candidacy at the end of last year. But the former star striker of Olympique de Marseille and Chelsea, retired since the end of 2018, will not be the only candidate.

Sory Diabaté, the first vice-president of the FIF, considered the colt of the outgoing president and the executive committee, also plans to run.
