Facebook Partners With Airtel And BCS To Provide Better Wireless Internet Across Africa

Facebook, the biggest social media network in the world in its attempt to bring more people online in Africa has announced that it is partnering with Airtel and BCS to lay nearly 500 miles of fiber cable in Uganda by the end of the year.

This project according to Facebook is expected to provide internet access to more than 3 million people across different countries in Africa.

According to statistics, the continent is populated by over 1.2 billion people. However,  only 226 million smartphones users are connected to the internet as at 2015. Interestingly, the number is expected to triple by 2020. This new fiber cable will no doubt contribute to this increase.
