Facebook Messenger’s New Feature Scans Photos In Your Gallery For Facial Recognition

Despite privacy concerns with the introduction of facial recognition AI scanning your device, asking you to upload and tag friends with photos, Facebook took the feature up a notch by utilizing it in the best way possible, adding the feature to its messenger app.

Facebook’s race to dominate the world of mobile messaging is no longer farfetched; its messenger app has over a billion users monthly, and to keep them from moving on to other services the company continues to improve the product.

Facebook messenger app now features facial recognition AI that scans your device for photos with or of friends and reminds you to send the photos to friends recognized in the picture.
Privacy concerns especially by the EU raised eyebrows, but facebook said the feature is optional and can be disabled via settings.
