Sunday marked the fourth anniversary of former President John Atta Mills death. He died on July 24, 2012, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

The president of Nigeria died in office in May 2010 of reported kidney and heart problems.
6. Muammar Gaddafi, 69
The Libyan head of state was killed by Western-backed rebels in an uprising in 2011.

The president of Guinea-Bissau died in January 2012 at a hospital in France.

The president of Malawi died in April 2012 of cardiac arrest.

The president of Ethiopia died in April 2012 at a hospital in Belgium.
