The National Council for Coordination of Public Participation for the Construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam signed an agreement with the National Lottery Administration yesterday to raise nearly 100 million Birr from the sale of paper lottery. The Council and the Administration announced that the money will be collected in four months time.
Council Resource Mobilization Director Tagel Kenubih on the occasion said from a promised 12 billion Birr over 8.1 billion has been collected through bonds and other fund raising activities that show growing public participation. The paper lottery project is the first of its kind awarding ten million Birr for first prize winner. All in all 480,000 winners would receive various prizes, Tagel said.
He also assured that the Council will provide 41 million Birr for the prize and the payment of ticket vendors and agents. He added private banks have contributed over 10 million Birr for the project.
Administration Director General Geremew Garje on his part said the Administration will cover 24 million Birr for the expense of lottery licence. Promotional activities will be handled by the Administration.
The sale of tickets will begin February 9, 2016.
