Cardiff coach Neil Warnock and club director Ken Choo joined Emiliano Sala’s family to bid farewell to the footballer.
The body of the 28-year-old striker, repatriated on Friday, was handed over to his family and the funeral was held Saturday in his village of Progreso, about 350 miles from Buenos Aires.
A public vigil was organized in the gymnasium of the San Martin club, the footballer’s first club.
Emiliano Sala died on 21 January in a plane crash while traveling to Cardiff.
Even though Emiliano Sala did not have the opportunity to play for his new club, Cardiff will remember him with respect and gratitude.
“It was my player, I had it signed. We had two or three conversations, and he told me he would score the goals that would keep us in the Premier League, “said Cardiff coach.
“We are very sad and the whole club is very sad. Today, I think it’s good for the family to turn the page, “added the club director.
Sala’s body was cremated during a private service in the city of Santa Fe.
