Joe, Kobe Bryant’s father, was seen for the first time since he lost his son, 41, and granddaughter Gigi, 13, in a helicopter accident.
The 65-year-old NBA star, affectionately known as Jellybean, left the house he shares with Kobe’s mother Pamela in Las Vegas after a giant bouquet of yellow flowers delivered Monday afternoon.
Neighbors in their sixties have told the British tabloid Dailymail that the lives of Joe and Pamela are “turned upside down” after the death of their son.
A neighbor, who spoke anonymously, said the family is too torn apart to comment on the tragedy.
“I spoke to them twice yesterday and brought them food and a card. They are simply devastated, as you can imagine. Losing their son and granddaughter like that is just awful. I spoke to Joe briefly the day before, we went out for a walk, everyone was happy and we were talking about the beautiful weather and then it changed in 24 hours. Their lives have been turned upside down. “
Earlier today, Kobe’s former coach and father’s best friend, Wayne Slappy, told Dailymail that Kobe Bryant’s family may have struggled to close the “black hole” left by his death.
“Can you imagine a black hole? It is empty, how to fill it? It is a close knit family. He was 41 years old, and his daughter died in an accident with him. His family will be missed more than you can imagine. I know NBA players whose kids can’t stand them, they’ve never spent time with them. This is not the case with Kobe. He grew up with his loving family. ”
Kobe leaves behind his wife Vanessa, daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3 and Capri 7 months.
