Coronavirus: We Have Finally Found the Cure – Chinese Government

Finally, China can breathe a sigh of deep relief as the nation, according to its ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian, said that it has found a cure for the global epidemic called coronavirus.

Speaking on the feat a press conference in Abuja on Monday, February 3, Pingjian said that a team of doctors are currently working on a vaccine to eliminate the virus, Daily Trust reports.

In his assurance, the Chinese ambassador said that in about two weeks, the disease will be curbed and its momentum drastically reduced.

He added that going by mechanisms already put in place, the virus will not only be curbed and controlled, it will also be treated.

Pingjian said: “The Chinese nation has gone through great winds and waves and overcome countless difficulties.

“The 1000 bed makeshift hospital in Wuhan, which was built in 9 days and is in full operation today, speaks volumes.”

Speaking on the safety of the Nigerian community in China, the ambassador said that the Chinese government is committed to saving the lives of not less than 60 citizens who reside in Wuhan.

He said: “We will, in a responsible manner, safeguard the safety of every foreign national in China, including the Nigerian expatriates, and address their legitimate concerns in a timely manner.”

Meanwhile, we reported that there were reasons to believe that the world may have seen the worst from the global epidemic, coronavirus as a team of doctors in Thailand has successfully treated a Chinese patient with the disease.

Speaking on the groundbreaking feat on Sunday, February 2, Dr Kriengsak Attipornwanich, one of the doctors, said that cocktail of antiviral medications used for influenza and HIV were applied in the treatment of the patient, a 71-year-old Chinese woman.

Attipornwanich said that the cocktail contained oseltamivir with lopinavir and ritonavir, both of which are anti-viral pills used to tackle the human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

He went ahead to say that laboratory results turned negative 12 hours after the medications were given to the woman who had been infected with the 2019-nCoV coronavirus.
