Congolese Singer, Koffi Olomide Reportedly Gets 18-Month Jail Term

Congolese rhumba musician, Koffi Olomide, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for assaulting one of his dancers in Kenya last week, DR Congo’s local media report.

The 60-year-old was caught on camera viciously kicking the female dancer at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport immediately after landing, though he later denied that he attacked her through a video on his Facebook page.

Following the incident, Koffi was arrested by Kenyan authorities and deported back to Kinshasa where he was also reportedly arrested.

After news of the attack went viral, South African and Zambian event organizers moved swiftly to cancel various shows that Koffi was to grace.
