China’s Foreign Ministe Arrives In Rwanda To Begin Four-nation Africa Visit

In a statement at the East African country’s statehouse, Wang Yi described his delight with the meeting.

Top of the agenda for talks was to consult and exchange with the president on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

China continues to cooperate with Rwanda in a range of sectors, including health, education, agriculture and infrastructure.

Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, also expressed her delight for Wang Yi’s visit – stating that it would add to the on-going partnership the two countries enjoy.

Cooperation between China and Africa has grown significantly over the last two decades, and this is signified in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Following a technical meeting in November 2017, it was decided that the next FOCAC meeting would be elevated to a Heads of State summit to be held in Beijing in September 2018.

Minister Wang Yi arrived in Rwanda on January 12, and is set to depart January 13, where he will then go on to Angola.
