China is set to build a state-of-the-art modern broadcasting facility in South Sudan at a cost of over a-hundred million-dollars.
According to the director of the South Sudan’s Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) James Magok, the government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese government on Tuesday for the development of the state-of-art studios and the broadcast tower.
The agreement was signed by senior officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and officials from the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan.
“It has remained now the ground work now to be done. The Chinese team was here to complete their feasibility studies,” Magok said,” By having new studios, it will make some changes in giving the services to the public and giving information to our people.”
Cai Senming, Economic and Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in South Sudan, said the project to be undertaken by Chinese engineers would start soon.
He added that the grant is part of China’s effort to help the world’s youngest country attain stability and prosperity.
