Checkout Surface Studio, Microsoft’s First Desktop Computer

At Microsoft’s Windows 10 event on Wednesday, the Surface Studio, it’s first desktop computer, was unveiled.

The $3,000 Surface Studio has a touchscreen display, a zero-gravity hinge that allows the machine to lay at a 20-degree angle, and integrated 3-D interactions.

Many speculate that the Surface Studio is a firm competition for Apple’s iMac but the Surface Studio is a good $700-$1,000 cheaper than the iMac.

The steep price tag could mean the computer is aimed at businesses and more affluent home users.

The Surface Studio isn’t portable in the slightest; it’s permanently attached to the stand, and it weighs 20 pounds.

According to Mac World, the cheapest Surface Studio, which ships December 15, is priced at $2,999, and it comes with a quad-core Intel Core i5, 1TB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and a 2GB GPU.

Intel offers a middle tier of Surface Studio with double the RAM size (16GB) and an Intel Core i7 in place of the Core i5, for an extra $500, or $3,499 total.

The best Surface Studio you can order is $4,199.

It has the Intel Core i7 processor, a whopping 32GB of RAM, a 2TB hybrid drive (again, the same thing as a Fusion drive on a Mac).

It also has a graphics processing unit (Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M) with 4GB of GDDR5 memory.

Surface Studio is available for pre-order on Microsoft.
