CAF Awards 2019: Here’s Who Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba Voted For

On January 07, Senegalese Liverpool star Sadio Mané was voted best African player of the year. Among those who took part in the votes, there were the selectors and captains of the African selections, but also technical experts, journalists and a panel of African legends including Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba.

Regarding the vote, Didier Drogba awarded 5 points to Sadio Mané, 4 to Mohamed Salah and 3 to Riyad Mahrez. The Ivorian has been the expected choice (but has not appointed a 4 th and 5 th player to whom he could give respectively 2 and 1 points).

Eto’o for his part was more chauvinistic since he granted 5 points to the Cameroonian goalkeeper of Ajax, André Onana, classified first in front of Mané, Mahrez, Salah then Kalidou Koulibaly. However, his choice was insufficient to allow his compatriot to finish among the 3 finalists and reach the last stage of the vote (coaches and captains).
