The 31-year privileged British banker who killed two s3x workers in Hong Kong, including the torture of one of them for three days, pleaded not guilty to the charges at his trial on Monday morning. The victims were Indonesian girls Sumarti Ningsih, 23, and Seneng Mujiasih, 26.
Rurik Jutting was high on cocaine during the ordeals with both prostitutes, which took place at the banker’s luxury apartment in Hong Kong. He first killed Ningsih. The man forced her to lick the toilet bowl, while he was sawing her neck, although she die not die immediately after that. He also attacked her with his belt, fists, a pair of pliers and s3x toys for three entire days.
After the girl died, Jutting stuffed her body into a suitcase, and left it on the apartment’s balcony. A few days later, he hired Mujiasih, who upon seeing a gag on the sofa, started screaming, prompting Jutting to slit her throat.
The killings were carried out in 2014. Jutting, who is a Cambridge University graduate, was working for Merrill Lynch at the time, earning an annual salary of around USD 400,000. He tried to plead guilty to manslaughter, but the court did not accept this lesser charge.
Jutting grew up in a privileged UK lifestyle, studying at the exclusive Winchester College, one of Britain’s most prestigious private schools. At Cambridge he was part of the rowing club and the secretary of Clio, the undergraduate history society.
Jutting has tried to prove he is not guilty to murder by reason of diminished will. If convicted, he faces life in prison. He recorded part of the torture he inflicted on Ningsih on his smartphone. She left a five-year old son behind.
