Idris Elba thinks the coronavirus pandemic should be remembered in the future by suggesting the world go into quarantine for a week every year once the situation is over.
The Luther actor and his wife Sabrina Dhowre Elba both contracted the virus but have now since recovered.
“I think that the world should take a week of quarantine every year just to remember this time,” he told Associated Press. “Remember each other. I really do.
“I think it’s… other species use it. It’s called hibernation. But it does remind you that the world doesn’t tick on your time.”
Dhowre Elba shared the pair had been “extremely lucky” to have battled mild cases, although her husband did remark that the “scary and unsettling” experience had “turned [our] lives around”.
The star confirmed he had tested positive for COVID-19 back in March before his wife confirmed she also had the virus several days later.
Now, the couple have embarked on a campaign with the United Nations in order to alleviate the impact of coronavirus on farmers and food producers in rural and poorer areas.
The UN Goodwill Ambassadors revealed the initiative which will see a $40 million (£32 million) fund put towards helping the nations hit by the pandemic.
The pair also took part in Lady Gaga’s ‘One World: Together At Home’ concert on Saturday to deliver a message of hope to viewers.
