Perhaps these macho Africans can learn something from billionaire Bill Gates, American business magnate recognized as the founder of Microsoft Corporation, married for 25 years to his lovely wife Melinda.
In a recent media interview, Melinda, who is the co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the world’s largest private charity created with her husband in 2000, revealed the secret of their happy and lasting marriage.
She told Business Insider, despite their busy work schedule, that her billionaire husband was almost always moving, but they still took the time to do the dishes and household chores each night before everyone else do not go to bed
According to Melinda, women spend an additional seven years doing unpaid housework for their husbands in their lifetime. She explained that if women could reduce their weekly unpaid housework by about seven to five hours, their productivity in the labor market would increase by about 20%, adding that doing household chores with their spouse could also strengthen relationships.
So when did she convince Bill, very busy, to wash the dishes with her?
Melinda said that she and Bill had had a series of conversations as a couple and that in doing so, they had learned to become more balanced in married life. And among the things that Melinda really wanted to balance, there were of course the housework, including the dishes.
“One night, I realized I was still in the kitchen 10 to 15 minutes after everyone put things in at the last minute. Sometimes, when I was frustrated, my frustration dissipated, “she says.
Since that night, the Gates family, including Bill, do the dishes together every night before going to bed and no one needs a reminder.
Bill met his wife in 1987 when she joined Microsoft as a product manager. He was seduced by her and without wasting time, he launched a request for an appointment that she initially refused. After insisting, the two started going out together and finally exchanged their wedding vows at a private ceremony in Lanai, Hawaii.
It was in 1994. The couple had three children together: their daughters Jennifer Katharine Gates (born in 1996) and Phoebe Adele Gates (born in 2002) and a son Rory John Gates (born in 1999).
