Nigeria’s next door neighbour, Benin Republic is poised for museum greatness as Ouidah Museum of History has been nominated in the Leading Culture Destinations 2015 awards which is like the ‘Oscar’ for museums.
The award which is set to hold on October 9th in London honours the world’s most visionary art institutions and emerging cultural hotspots.
The museum was one of those shortlisted in the Best Emerging Culture Destination of the Year (Africa category).
Other museums in that category include Museum Mohammed VI, Rabat (Morocco), Museum MMP +, Marrakech (Morocco) and Thread by Foundation Annie & Josef Albers, Sinthian(Senegal).

Other world famous museums which made the list include Tate Modern, London (UK) and Museum of Modern Art, New York(US) which got the nod for best exhibitions & programming.
Getty Center, Los Angeles (US) and Centre Pompidou, Paris(France) also got nominations in different categories.
