Applications open for inaugural SingularityU Global Impact Challenge in West Africa 2017

Applications close: April 3, 2017

Ghana’s Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) and Singularity University (SU) have announced the launch of the SingularityU Global Impact Challenge in West Africa.

The challenge aims to foster moonshot innovations and startups that positively impact the lives of people living in the region, with an ability to scale and impact a billion people worldwide in 10 years.

All residents and citizens of West African countries including Nigeria and Ghana (MEST’s key strategic locations) are eligible for the challenge.

While this challenge seeks moonshot innovations that addresses climate change, breathtaking innovations in other areas will also be considered.

The winner, to be unveiled on April 24, 2017, will participate in the Global Solutions Program (GSP) at Singularity University for free. The program runs from June 17 to August 17, 2017 at the SU campus in Silicon Valley at NASA Research Park.

After completing the program, the winner is expected back in their country to develop their innovative project with the support of an alumni network and mentors around West Africa.

Other participants, especially the unsuccessful finalists, will also benefit from the program. They’ll get access to mentors and coaches to assist them in the startup phase of their projects.

Entrepreneurs across West Africa interested in the program should apply by April 3, 2017. All semi-finalists and finalists will participate in an Innovation workshop & pitch event in Lagos, Nigeria after which the winner will be announced.
