Angola’s Ministry of Telecommunications Launches ‘ao’ Domain

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies (MTTI) has launched the domain “ao” – an electronic website and institution indicating that they are registered in Angola.

To access this address, the interested party must make a registration through the “SEPE.gov.ao” page and pay an amount of 22 euros equivalent in Kwanza (AKz 8,326) by the same way (on line).

According to the director of the Institute of Information Society Promotion (Infosi), Paulo Pedro, who announced the launch of the domain, the field that refers to the payment, in the act of online registration gives a code reference multicaixa, similar to the payment of a TAAG ticket through the internet.

Prior to this launch, on a platform protected by MTTI, the registration of a domain “ao” cost about 50 thousand kwanzas and was at the request of Uninet – a unit attached to the Faculty of Engineering of Agostinho Neto University. However, since 2018 the competences have been transferred to the MTTI through a Presidential dispatch.

At the moment, there are just under 80 entities and people in the country, with domain “ao”, but it is expected that until the next edition of Angotic a massification of this address.

The Angotic 2019 Forum, which closes on Thursday (20), counts with the participation of 138 speakers, of which 75 international and 53 themes, highlighting “Internet: use, prevention and security, digital TV and its social impact, corporate leadership in the digital age.”
