Having a baby is a 24/7 job, no one said it is easy. Such job requires a lot of feeding, weeks of sleepless nights and of course, tons of love.
For Sheree Psaila caring for her baby boy is much more difficult than to any other mom. 22-year-old Sheree is unable to pick up and comfort her baby boy.
“Sometimes he’ll cry and I can’t reach him to pick him up,” Psaila explained. “I have to wait for someone to pick him up for me.”
The thing is Sheree has a rare genetic condition, she simple doesn’t have muscle tissue in her arms and legs.
Still she had given a birth to a baby boy, despite her condition.
Sheree Psaila was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, meaning she has no muscle tissue in her arms or legs. Her parents were told she wouldn’t even live past her first birthday.
Sheree went under 20 surgeries, unfortunately, they all were unsuccessful. She was suggested to be put in a wheelchair and sent to a special needs school. But the girl started to walk at the age of five.
Psaila was studying at Tafe where she met Chris, her future husband, who has a hereditary condition that affects his lower spine. They got married in March 2015.
The couple wanted to have kids. At first, they suffered through a miscarriage, but after some time they went on to have a successful pregnancy.
“The doctors told me I probably wouldn’t be able to have kids, although they didn’t give me a reason why not,” she said.
The baby was able to grow the fully inside of Paisla! So she gave a birth to a baby boy!
Hayden was born completely healthy! He has no disabilities or hereditary conditions.
Even though Psaila has a difficult time being able to tend to her baby and can barely hold him, she gets help from a carer.
“When we go swimming, I want to be able to hold him in the pool and do all of the stuff that Chris does with him,” she explained.
Sheree says she loves being a mom even though it is difficult.
