Alassane Ouattara: “African Countries Must Take Their Responsibilities In Full”

Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara called on his African counterparts to take greater responsibility on Thursday morning at the opening of SARA 2017. The fourth edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture and Animal Resources, opened on 17 November , and will end on November 26 in Abidjan.

Abidjan welcomes since 17th November the fourth edition of the International Exhibition of Agriculture and Animal Resources called SARA 2017. This event is the largest platform in West Africa for meetings, exchanges, and partnerships in the agricultural sector.

The participants and organizers have great hope for the spin-offs of this exhibition, whose theme is “Structural transformations of the agricultural economy in the face of climate change”.

For 10 days, exhibitors, clients, business partners, institutional partners, the general public meet on a site of more than 10 ha, close to Abidjan International Airport.

Alassane Ouattara, the Ivorian head of state, who opened the exhibition, took the opportunity to give a strong message to stakeholders in the Ivorian agricultural world, as well as the strong assembly that made the trip.

Taking the example of the cotton sector in the United States, Alassane Ouattara invited all participants, and his African counterparts to more investments in Agriculture and animal resources.

“It’s time for Africans to take responsibility for the development of agriculture in our countries”

said the Ivorian head of state. Alassane Ouattara added that the SARA aims at facilitating the exchanges, and putting in relation of business of the different actors and participants. He congratulated the ministries involved in the organization of this fair, namely, the Ivorian Ministries of Agriculture, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Water and Forests, and the Environment.

The Ivorian president was preceded by Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, Minister of Agriculture. The latter, speaking on behalf of his peers, noted the progress of the National Agricultural Investment Program. This program, according to the Minister, has led to significant progress and satisfactory results.

Several delegations from the subregion of West Africa, South Africa (guest of honor), France, are present at this show to present their agricultural wealth.

As a reminder, this 4th international exhibition of agriculture and animal resources started on November 17th, will end on November 26th.
