The ceremony was organized on the occasion of the celebration of the 171st National Congress which also marks the 15th year of the signing of the Accra Accords.
The Accra Accord, it must be remembered, was negotiated under the auspices of former President John Kufuor, then President of Ghana and current President of ECOWAS.

The Government and people of Liberia are grateful for the continued fraternal bond of friendship you have shown and your continued positive role in promoting peace and development in Liberia, has earned you a special place in the hearts of Liberians “said President Weah in his speech.
The former President, deeply moved, thanked President Weah and the Liberian people for their attention, while wishing that the peace currently enjoyed by Liberia remains sustainable.
