“AS Monaco has shown great progress for several seasons and I am convinced that the future will be just as ambitious,” he added.

After quitting Chelsea, the 52-year-old said his decision was influenced by a desire to spend more time with his family.

The former Super Eagles player joined Chelsea in 2007 and worked in both scouting and coaching departments before being promoted to technical director in 2011.

During his time at Chelsea, Emenalo is credited with making big name signings, including the arrivals of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and N’Golo Kanté, among others.

While receiving him at Monaco, club vice president Vadim Vasilyev expressed his desire to bring Emenalo to the French outfit, saying he had followed his work for some time.

“I have been following Michael Emenalo’s work for some time and am delighted to have him here at Monaco. I was closely involved in bringing him in,” Vasilyev said.

“His know-how in the scouting network, and the technical experience he has gained at one of the most successful clubs of recent years, are the reasons that led us to offer him this ambitious challenge,” he added.
