However, Russia has not convincingly said its forces in Syria have executed the 49-year old terrorist. From their announcement, the certainties on the ground are as yet being explored to be sure beyond a shadow of a doubt that Al-Baghdadi has been executed.
“According to information, which is being checked through various channels, IS leader Ibrahim Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi was also present at the meeting and was killed as a result of the strike,”
While the US government have not confirmed the claims, Russia says they informed the United States before launching the airstrike in Raqqa, Syria. Raqqa is an ISIS foothold in Syria.
According to the Russian Ministry statement, the airstrike was targeted towards a meeting of high-profile ISIS leaders and Al-Baghdadi was present at the meeting.
Over 300 “terrorists” were reportedly killed in the strike. Top ISIS leaders who were also killed in the strike were Emir of Raqqa Abu al-Haji al-Masri, Emir Ibrahim al-Naef al-Hajj, and IS head of security Suleiman al-Sawah.
Emir of Raqqa Abu al-Haji al-Masri, Emir Ibrahim al-Naef al-Hajj are said to be in control of the district from the city of Raqqa to the settlement of es-Sohne.
Aside from Syria’s state TV, the military forces of the US, Iraq, and Syria have not confirmed the authenticity of the claims. It is however confirmed that the Syrian city of Raqqa witnessed intense airstrikes at the quoted time last month.

In March, the Supreme leader of the Islamic State group, Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi left an insulting audio message for the United States, calling Trump an idiot and assuring them of their soonest failure as a world power.
During the meeting of a US-led coalition campaign 2 months ago, US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson assured the members of a 68-country coalition against ISIS that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi will be captured in a matter of time.
“Nearly all of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s deputies are now dead, including the mastermind behind the attacks in Brussels, Paris and elsewhere,”
“It is only a matter of time before Baghdadi himself meets the same fate.”
Supporting Tillerson’s supposition, the US defense department reported that al-Baghdadi was incommunicado with his fighters as he reportedly fled the war-torn Mosul.
According to US and Iraqi officials, the US-led coalition campaign has yielded positive results. It has recorded great successes in defeating jihadists in the Middle East.
As the uncertainty hovers over the death of ISIS boss, it is worthy to mention that Al-Baghdadi has been reported dead multiple times before now. To back up previous claims of his death in a US airstrike, some images of the dead terrorist surged up. However, the images were found to have been doctored.
Al-Baghdadi declared himself the ISIS leader after giving a sermon at a mosque in the Iraqi city of Mosul in 2014.
