71 Egyptian nationals arrived back in the North African country on Tuesday, having fled Ukraine where Russia is conducting a military operation.
The country’s spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Hafez, confirmed the arrival of the 71 Egyptians aboard an AirEgypt flight.
“As part of the continuation of our embassies in Ukraine’s neighboring countries to provide the necessary support to our citizens coming from Ukraine, our embassy in Bratislava is completing the procedures for the return of 71 Egyptian citizens to the homeland, on board an Air Cairo flight that arrived in Cairo today, March 8,” Hafez said.

Thousands of Africans, mostly students, have fled the Eastern African country following Russia’s launch of the military operation on February 24.
According to the United Nations, two million people have fled Ukraine since the start of the operation.
